The Kashi Company was created in 1984 as a producer of Kashi Pilaf - a blend of 7 whole grains and sesame intended to be eaten as a hot breakfast cereal, a side-dish or a main meal for vegetarians. The company operated in relative obscurity until it began producing cold breakfast cereals. The Kashi Company was purchased by Kellogg's in 2000.Today, the all-natural food company - operated as an independent unit of Kellogg's - produces more than 50 products, including cereals, nutrition bars, frozen waffles and other frozen entrees.
