We when there for an award meal and it was sensational. The coffee was awesome the waitress had to keep my cup full. I am planning on taking my family there for breakfast. It took the guys in our group the next day to finsh off their omelette and it was even better the next day.

Great food. Price was reasonable. Go hungry because you'll get a lot pancakes. Service could have been better given it wasn't too crowded when we went.
I would rate is 3rd on my list of breakfast restaurants behind Magnolia Pancake Haus in San Antonio, TX and Pancake Pantry in Gatlinburg, TN.
I would definitely eat here again.

I think this place has been over rated for years. Parking downtown is always bad, the seating is limited and the food is good, but not great.

I used meet some friends for breakfast here every Friday morning. I'm going again Saturday and have been looking forward to it for weeks. The coffee is the best anywhere, served with real cream. The food is so good that whenever someone new came into our group for breakfast, we would wait for "the look" (you know, that OMG these pancakes are to-die-for look). The servers were always fabulous and friendly never letting us get below a half cup of coffee. This is absolutely my FAVORITE place in Birmingham.

The baked western omelet was large and tasty. Side order of grits was very good. Service was absolutely wonderful. Coffee and water were both refilled frequently. Nice mix of people for a late-ish Saturday breakfast. Severeal UAB basketball players were there. Near a college campus, it is always a good sign to see the jocks eating at a restaurant.

I would recommend this place for people who are really hungry. Be prepared to wait awhile for a table depending on the day you go. The service was good, except it took awhile for the food and the drinks weren't refilled a lot.

I used to eat at the Original Pancake House once every month before work 12 hours onstage. They have excellent pancakes, omelets, and sides. Sides include grits, fruit plates, and home fries. The 49ers are my favorite, which are like Swedish pancakes, thin but really eggy. I like them because you can get them really fast and go really great with bacon. They serve 3 buttermilk pancakes with every omelet. The Pancake house is extremely busy on the weekends but well worth the wait.
