The Broadway Cafe has come a long way. I love the 50's theme,the jukebox, the pictures on the wall. I think they make the best shakes in town. My experience was pretty good. It was about midnight and I had breakfast. The hotcakes were good, eggs just right and plenty of coffee. Service was with a smile. I would definitely go back.

Despite the negative comments on this site this café is nostalgic and the food is pretty good. Prices are reasonable for Tucson. The service is good but please expect that it is a diner/café where the help is typically an uneducated person having a bad day. The regular employees are stretched between many customers and this place is typically very busy and understaffed. I give them an A for effort. I am a regular for breakfast or lunch and watch them as they work very hard to please the customers.
Some customers have too high of expectations for a café. BUT THE PLACE IS CLEAN and the ambiance is 50's décor with era music. You will enjoy this café. Everyone makes mistakes and don't listen to one or two persons opinions in visiting.

Hi,
I have gone here MANY times, and I would say that it is more hit than miss. I have to say that yes, there are the days when the service is off and the food is cold, but these days are rare. Most of the time the service is as it should be at a diner, and the food is as it should be at a diner, slow and filling:)
The gravy and biscuit and scrambled egg is really good but stay away from the ham and cheese omelet.
I say that 70% of the time it reminds me of the NY diners I grew up with, and then ya there is that 30% when it is just not so good, but hey I like risks!

My family went to Broadway Cafe for breakfast this morning. It was a horrible experience. Our server was rude. It took over 45 minutes to get our food. When our food finally arrived it was cold and my husband's was burnt. Our server was not apologetic at all and brought the bill 2 minutes after setting down the cold food (funny how attentive she was to bringing the bill!). I am sending a complaint letter to the owner. We will NEVER eat at this establishment again. Horrible, horrible! We could have saved $26 and eaten at McDonalds, gotten better service and hot food!!

WENT TO RESTAURANT APPROX 10:30 PM ON A FRIDAY. AFTER BITING INTO THE HAMBURGER,WHICH WAS COLD, WE ASKED FOR NEW SANDWICH. 20 MINUTES LATER WAITRESS BRINGS RE-HEATED SANDWICH (BITE MISSING). THIS MEANS THEY EITHER RE-HEATED IT IN THE MICROWAVE (GROSS)OR PUT THE BITTEN INTO SANDWICH BACK ON THE GRILL (REALLY GROSS). REGARDLESS, I HAVE NEVER BEEN TO ANY RESTAURANT THAT RE-HEATS THEIR FOOD WHEN A CUSTOMER REQUESTS A NEW SANDWICH. MY HUSBAND AND I PAID FOR THE DINNER (WE DID NOT EAT) AND LEFT. I WILL NEVER DINE AT THIS RESTAURANT AGAIN AND WILL TELL AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE THIS RESTAURANTS PROCEDURES. I HAVE CONTACTED THE HEALTH DEPT AS THE DISTRICT MANAGER HAS NEGLECTED TO RETURN ANY OF MY CALLS REGARDING THIS MATTER.

The food is ok. I mean, its nothing to write home about, however, since they do offer a children eat free with every adult meal special, it makes it worth the occasional stop in. The service is extremely slow, so if you have time to wait, then this might be the place for you.
