Banana Raisin Microwave Oats
(1 serving)
- 1/2 cup old fashioned oats
-
1 cup water
-
20 or so golden raisins
-
1 medium banana - sliced
-
1/4 to a 1/2 cup of Honey Nut Cheerios - optional
-
skimmed milk - enough to top off the bowl
This was pretty good oatmeal with a nice banana flavor. I found that if I added 1 Tablespoon of brown sugar at the very end, it was much better. It needed just a little more sweetness than the bananas alone can provide. The most interesting thing about this recipe is the garnish of Honey Nut Cheerios. I've always loved a sprinkle of granola on oatmeal for an element of crunch. The Cheerios did the same thing and I enjoyed that quite a bit. (This recipe was submitted in 2003. It was tested and photographed in November 2014.)

Cooking Note From Mr Breakfast
If you want to make this or any oatmeal just a little more special, sneak a scant teaspoon of butter into each serving. It brings out the flavor of the oats and adds that “hmmnn... why are these oats a little better than most oats” mystery to your breakfast.
A fast and filling healthy breakfast to start the day right. This oatmeal has bananas, raisins and a fun garnish of Cheerios.
