Forceful Frittata
(4 servings)
- 6 eggs
-
1/2 cup milk
-
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella (1 teaspoon reserved for topping)
-
1/2 teaspoon salt
-
1/2 teaspoon pepper
-
1/2 cup of your favorite marinara sauce
-
15-20 fresh basil leaves
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Generously grease an 8-inch round cake pan.
In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk mozzarella (reserving 1 teaspoon), salt, and pepper.
Pour the egg mixture into cake pan and bake 30 minutes on center oven rack. The edges of the frittata will just begin to brown.
Remove from oven and allow to cool for 2 to 3 minutes.
Place a flat plate or tray over the cake pan and flip the frittata onto the plate.
Spread the marinara sauce in the center of the frittata in a 3-inch circle. Sprinkle the reserved teaspoon of shredded mozzarella on the tomato sauce, and place the basil leaves around the edges to recreate the Jedi Chamber floor.
Cut into wedges and serve.
This recipe is from a really fun cookbook called The Star Wars Cookbook II - Darth Malt and More Galactic Recipes. It has Star Wars-themed recipes for every meal, plus snacks and drinks. You can buy it at Amazon.com, click here to see the listing.
This is the introduction to the recipe from the book:
"How feel you? Well, you'll feel great after a slice of this frittata. An elegant family breakfast, it's reminiscent of the decorative floor of the Jedi Council Chamber, where great Jedi Masters convene to discus the workings of the galaxy."
This is a simple Italian Frittata. The name "Forceful Frittata" is due to the fact this recipe is from a Star Wars cookbook and the dish is meant to look like a set from Star Wars Episode I.
