English Monkey

  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 egg - beaten
  • 1 Tablespoon butter
  • 3/4 cup grated Cheddar (or your favorite) cheese
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 6 pieces hot buttered toast
In a medium sauce pan over low heat, warm the milk. Soak the bread crumbs in the hot milk for 15 minutes.

In the top of a double boiler over medium heat, melt the butter and cheese together. Once melted, add the soaked bread crumbs and salt. Add the beaten egg. Stir and cook for three minutes.

Pour the cheesy concoction evenly over hot buttered toast and enjoy.
