Donut Costume (Do Not Eat)
(1 serving)
- 1 inflatable swimming inner tube
-
light brown spray paint (specifically for plastic)
-
dark brown spray paint (specifically for plastic)
-
1 packet of drinking straws in various colors (cut straws into 2 or 3 inch long pieces)
-
glue
-
duct tape
-
paper cap from Krispy Kreme or similar donut shop (usually free if you ask)
-
1 donut box (or a plain shirt box decorated to look like a donut box)
Inflate the inner tube. Paint the entire inner tube with light brown paint.
Once dry, paint the top of the inner tube with dark brown paint to look like frosting. With the paint still wet, adhere pieces of colorful plastic straws over the top to look like sprinkles. If the paint dries too soon to adhere all sprinkles, use glue to stick on the remaining straw pieces.
Rip off a piece of duct tape slightly longer than the width of your donut. Create a strap to wear the donut by folding the piece of duct tape in half. Reinforce the strap by wrapping additional duct tape around the folded tape.
Adhere the the duct tape strap to the back of the donut on opposites sides across the center. Use plenty of tape to make it stick. Then, use plenty more tape to reinforce the the pieces you just put down.
Strap the donut around your neck.
Complete the costume by carrying a traditional donut box and wearing a paper hat associated with donut shop workers. White pants and a white shirt with a black belt help to complete the illusion.
