Banana Strawberry Oatmeal Smoothie
(1 serving)
- 1 medium banana
-
1 cup fresh or frozen strawberries
-
1 and 1/2 cups vanilla soy milk
-
1/2 cup uncooked oats
-
4 or 5 ice cubes
The most notable flavor in this smoothie is banana. I'd recommend increasing the amount of strawberries slightly if you really want to taste strawberry. The vanilla soy milk was a nice touch. A hint of vanilla makes this smoothie taste distinct. If you use regular milk, you might want to add a 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract. The oats add fiber to this drink without effecting the flavor. They break down completely in the blender and are barely noticeable. Overall: Tasty! (This recipe was tested and photographed in February 2014. Thanks to Nita B. for the submission.)
How To Make A Banana Strawberry Oatmeal Smoothie
Place all ingredients in a Vitamix or other high powered blender and blend for a few seconds.
If you use frozen berries, you can omit the ice cubes. You can use any combo of fruits. I also used regular Old Fashion oats.
For a unique twist, try it with chocolate soy milk!
I love this smoothie and have it four times a week for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Best of all, it's NOT gritty like some similar smoothies can be.
