This is a unique place. The history goes back to the 1850's where there had been a general store in and around the area. The Herbert family opened at this location in the 80's and the family still runs it. They are famous for their Pork Roll, egg and cheese on a kaiser roll. They have been written up at various times in newspapers, etc. They sell over 180 pounds of Pork Roll each week. The store opens each day at 5AM (8AM on Sundays). They have an old-fashioned ice cream parlor where you can get home made ice cream. Most of the store is taken up with antiques. They jokingly say that "yes, all of this junk is for sale." There are two dining areas. We usually sit in the front area, near the counter where you order near the front door. Coffee is 55 cents a cup and you get your own from the pot belly stove nearby. Assorted table and chairs are yours to choose where to eat. The locals are always coming in to get one of the many newspapers available or drinks from the refrigerator cases. Sometimes there are impromptu unofficial meetings. They also have some odd sandwich combinations posted on the blackboard overhead. Go, Go, Go. It's a step into the past, fun and enjoyable.
