I hear the French haven't been so popular lately (c'mon, that can't possibly be anything new), but I say down with Freedom Toast. I've found real thing, served up crispy and cinnamony in tres charmant French cafe on Smith Street. Thin, almost delicate slices of cinnamon bread are cooked to perfection, then given the perfect fairy dusting of confectioner's sugar. Served with syrup (maple, with just a touch of a kick), it is pure breakfast heaven. Add that to the fact that they bring you fresh chocolate croissants WITHOUT YOU EVEN ASKING -- it's too much. Fans of sweet breakfasts should never go anywhere else, and I hear there's something for savory breakfast lovers, too.
