Breakfast spots in Beaufort seem few and far between so The Soda Fountain was a find. The decor is what you might expect from its name. Soda fountain counter, stools, booths, tables and chairs. As they describe themselves, "a small taste of the past."

All the breakfast possibilities from oatmeal to a large omelet selection. Great coffee, including all the coffee specialty drinks. The "Old Standby" breakfast special includes two eggs,bacon or sausage, hashbrowns or grits,toast or biscuit,AND coffee ($4.95 in 2003). The biscuits, large,split, and grilled, will melt in your mouth.

The room is large,bright and airy with a view of all those pleasure boats either from inside or on their harbor boardwalk patio. The Soda Fountain proves that, contrary to conventional wisdom, it is possible to have both great food and a wonderful view.
