Dartmouth Dining Service, the College's own food service, feeds students and anyone willing to pay cash at the Collis Center and the Hopkins Arts Center at Dartmouth College seven days a week from 7 am until late afternoon.

The layout is cafeteria style. You get what you want and then pay for it at a central check-out. The menus are similar. The staples of both are made-to-order omletes. Both do breakfast sandwiches, too. Collis wraps theirs in paper, the Hop uses plastic wrap. Some people take issue with the plastic wrap for health/environmental reasons. You can get smoothies made to order at Collis. Odwalla brand smoothies are available at the Hop.

The seating areas at both places can be a people-watchers paradise. Undergraduate students, grad students, faculty and staff all show up for breakfast. There are the stressed-out seniors writing term papers in the corner on their laptops. There's the table of 10 giggley undergrads talking about last night. I could keep going. Dartmouth Dining Service staff are all very pleasant. Most of the students are, too.

Although this is not a diner or cafe, the food quality is great despite the cafeteria surroundings.
