Betty's Diner is in a classic car diner that looks rather shabby from the road. There is an expanded dining in the back to take care of the crowds. Hours currently run from 5 a.m. opening to about 2 p.m. with some variation like the later hours on Fridays with the usual fish fry.
Betty's has managed to survive and thrive despite the freeway bypass, perhaps with help from a growing industrial base. A very large menu offering and dirt cheap prices might help. There is a 99 cent special throughout the day consisting of coffee, two eggs and toast.
So how's the food and service?
Nothing notably gourmet here. "Greens," a local Italian favorite here, could have used some garlic, for my taste, but Betty's home fries were quite acceptable. Potatoes this time of year tend to taste terrible after lengthy storage. The cooking is more than decent overall. Service is attentive but hefty crowds may delay the food a mite.
Best we have found in the area.
