Unfortunately this morning, the breakfast buffet was not made with love.

There were lackluster drying eggs in two varieties: plain and a kind of farmer's scramble with ham, tomatoes and peppers. Strangely, the biscuits they offered were kept in a chafing dish on top of soggy home fries. Everything tasted like it looked - 30 minutes older than it should be.

After being dissapointed by the bulk offerings, I decided to try a make-your-own Belgium waffle - a nice addition to any hotel buffet. Problem! I made my waffle... the butter was on my table, yards away. The syrup was in vat next to the waffle maker. It's waffles 101 that you have to put butter on your waffles when they are warm. This restaurant needs to have butter near their waffles. I dolloped some syrup into a nearby juice cup and rushed to my table to butter my waffle before it got cold.

When I got to my table, the butter was gone... so was my coffee and my newspaper.

The staff was fairly quick to replace the items they'd prematurely taken away. They brought me a USA Today in place of the Detroit News I was reading.

The buffet cost $9.99.

At this same time, a friend of mine staying in one of the rooms ordered breakfast (provided by the Grill) from room service. After an hour, she called to ask about her missing order. She was unapologetically told they had no record of it. So annoyed, she cancelled her breakfast.

The Hilton Suites in Auburn Hills is a nice place. The restaurant in the Hilton Suites in Auburn Hills is NOT a nice place.
