Jays is very large diner and a 24-hour diner at that. Business has to be good and apparently is.
Then how come my wife got weak coffee, scrambled eggs that tasted like they were made with dehydrated eggs circa WWII and pancakes that could have used another egg or two in the batter?
Some things are beyond comprehension. Water, maybe too much water, was added to the scrambled eggs. We would prefer none at all. The pancakes - well, what can you say? Lots of restaurants serve weak coffee. The whole state of Wyoming does. We would search out McDonald's in that state when we used to drive through. The bacon was good though. :-) And the platter at $4 was dirt cheap.
At the same time I got a superb Mexican omelet that the waitress warned me only had cheese and salsa. The hash browns had an extra spice or two and were a perfect accompaniment. Of course I had to make do with atrocious coffee.
The service is apparently a matter of concern in this 50's nostalgia diner.
The breakfast menu is large and varied despite some complaints I have read of it being ordinary. An artichoke and feta cheese omelet, for instance, is ordinary?
Judicious ordering will serve you well at Jays.
I heartily recommend Jays to those who understand that and can stand the bad coffee.
Best, Terry
