Imagine a t-bone steak, greens (an ubiquitous local favorite made from escarole), a couple eggs and whatever else for under $10 for breakfast.

Never felt that hungry but we were surprised to find a breakfast buffet on Saturdays and Sundays running from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m..

It didn't quite match the variety of a high-priced hotel restaurant but then neither did the price. The advertised price of $8.99 was significantly reduced for a pair of senions. I guess the coffee was thrown in with the rest.

Scrambled eggs, giambrotti, bacon, sausage, danishes, waffles, bagles were pretty much standard but the selection of watermelon, cantelope and waterdew melon along with apples and bananas was a nice touch. The yellow rind honeydew was at the peak of ripeness with an unusual taste rather than the hard rock green usually served up by buffets.

Hey, driving by this roadside diner gives you little hint from the outside of what you will find inside. I think we will pass it by less often in the future.
