If you are after traditional American and Texan breakfasts, Chubby's is it. Better than IHOP in Plano, which is one of the highest-rated IHOPs in the U.S. Large selection, friendly and prompt service, quick on the coffee refills, and the house coffe is good. Great breakfast tacos, huevos rancheros, eggs (I like mine over easy, with plenty of pepper&Tabasco and a dash of salt), and biscuits and gravy come as an option with almost every breakfast. Tell 'em JR sent you, it won't mean much to them but it strokes my ego. Very reasonable prices for one of the best breakfasts in the DFW area. They redid their interior some years ago and there are plenty of comfortable booths and lots of tables. The smoking section is completely across the lobby from the much larger non-smoking section, and you can't smell the smoke much in the non-smoking section.
No chain can beat it, maybe only Poor Richard's or Tony's can really compete at this level, and the decor is better here, more of a restaurant feel (carpet, darker) than a cafe (hard floors and chairs, lots of white surfaces, etc.)
