Ranch House Restaurant just opened this month "July 2009". It's clean, someone spent some money to renovate and decorate. it used to be a Sizzler for many years that finally closed. While it does have potential to be a good place to eat they need to address a few things.
The prices are a bit steep for the area, eggs and bacon are almost $8 which is considerably more then most places in the US. Don't set the coffee cups on the tables upside down without a napkin or paper. I noticed this on my second visit. The thought that they wipe the tables down with a dirty wash cloth and then put the part of the cup that comes in contact with your mouth on the table makes no sense.

They need to improve on the food, perhaps bigger portions, something special etc. Otherwise it's just another "Fire on the mountain or Rocky's" joint which eventually fail. The owners should check out 24th Street Cafe in Bakersfield, perfect example of a good quality, old fashion coffee shop. Good food, fair prices and great service. We drive from Lebec about 50 miles each way to go there, we could go to any of the places in Lebec but don't. While we're open to new places and would welcome a closer restaurant we've yet to find one that can match 24th Street.

The first time we gave it a try I think it was just open for a day or so. They must have had 10 people standing around, pretty much doing nothing. They should think about less staff and lower prices for the first year to get people in. Make sure the coffee is scalding hot, and keep those coffee cups upright and clean. Plus I found it odd that the menus say "Famous Ranch House Restaurant". How can you be famous if you just opened? I will give them credit as the guy who buses the tables was friendly and quick. Waitress we had was nice and did do her job. The food was just Ok, nothing great or what would get me going back often. But I'm hoping they'll change and see the light, good luck to them we need a good place.
