If you're in Ithaca and in the mood for a treat, visit the Carriage House Cafe (http://carriagehousecafe.com/). My husband and I were tempted by reviews we read in the local papers announcing it served the best brunch in town, and they lived up to our expectations. He had the brie-stuffed French toast served with local New York maple syrup and the house-made raspberry coulis, while I enjoyed that day's omlette special, a delicate omlette stuffed with wild mushrooms, goat cheese, and chives. All of the bread and pastries are baked on the premises and were delicious - the jam seemed homemade, too. We had hoped to take a baguette to go, but you need to call in advance earlier in the week to reserve one. We got there a little late, too, so all of the scones, muffins, and other pastries had been devoured! It is a little pricey - $3.95 for a latte - and no coffee refills, but the service was friendly and prompt, the atmosphere quirky and fun, and the food was high quality and delicious.
