I have been eating at the Main St. Diner for several years when I go fishing in the area. The restaurant is divided into a larger dining area and a smaller area with a counter and several booths. There are always several specials on the white board but I have never had a bad meal EVER from this establishment. My favorite breakfast is called the "Maverick." It consists of 2 PLATE size pancakes, 2 eggs (any style) and your choice of bacon, sausage, or ham all for $4.75 They also have the "Bonanza" which has french toast instead of pancakes. Some of their breakfast specials do not come with potatoes but are available for $.75 more. Some of my other favorite breakfast entrees are the "Reaper" and "Popeye's Pig" skillets. Coffee is free-flowing and they do not charge tax on your purchase. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxed and definitely family oriented. Many of their luncheon desserts are home-made and are extremely tasty.

Amtrak also serves the area. You can take the westbound Carl Sandburg from Chicago, LaGrange, or Naperville, arrive in Plano at 8:33 A.M. and head back at 9:25 A.M. to Naperville, LaGrange, or Chicago on the Illinois Zephyr. This would be a nice short trip to take kids on for their first train trip. The waitresses are very friendly as well. Give it a try, I think you'll like this neat little diner. The restaurant is open 7 days a week but only until 2:00 P.M. serving breakfast and lunch.
