Veiny Eggs (Halloween)
(12 servings) Printable Version
- 12 Eggs
- red food coloring
- water
- your Favorite deviled egg recipe (optional)
- sliced olives (optional)
- ketchup (optional)
Meanwhile, combine water and red food coloring in a glass bowl large enough to hold the eggs and water. Add food coloring until the water is a deep red.
After the eggs have cooled 11 minutes, remove each egg and crack its shell in several places. Do not remove the shell. Place the egg in the bowl of red water. Do this for each egg.
Let the eggs sit in the red water for 10-15 minutes. Rinse and peel the eggs. The eggs will look like they are covered in red veins.
For a fun halloween treat, halve the eggs and prepare the yellows with your favorite deviled egg recipe. Fill the egg whites with your mixture, and top each with an olive. Use ketchup to continue the veiny look on your egg eye balls!
