Quick Oatmeal Cookie Oatmeal

Quick Oatmeal Cookie Oatmeal

(1 serving)    Printable Version
  • 1/2 cup instant oatmeal
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup raisins
  • 1/8 cup nuts (crushed or uncrushed)
  • 2 Tablespoons sugar or the equivalent of artificial sweetener
The submitter of this recipe said that it tastes like an oatmeal cookie. I somewhat agree with that, however I would replace the regular sugar with brown sugar and stir in just a teaspoon of butter to help complete the illusion. As written here, the recipe is good, but it can be made better with those slight adjustments. I would also recommend that you start with 1 Tablespoon of brown sugar in the recipe and then have extra brown sugar standing by when you eat it. I found this oatmeal just a tiny tad too sweet. But overall, it's a pretty cool recipe. I've always loved that you can get homemade oatmeal from the microwave in minutes. (Recipe submitted in 2006. It was tested and photographed in September 2013.)

In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the oatmeal, milk and raisins. Stir together with a spoon.

Microwave on high (stirring every 30 seconds) for 3 to 3 1/2 minutes or until oatmeal is cooked to desired consistency.

Stir in nuts and sugar (or sweetener)

Taste. Add more sugar if desired.

Enjoy!

Note From Recipe Submitter:
I use honey roasted peanuts because I often have them in the pantry. If you desire crushed nuts, place the nuts in a small plastic bag and crush with a flat object such as a rubber mallet or sturdy book.

If done properly, this recipe really does taste like an oatmeal cookie. Best of all, it's super fast to make in the microwave.
