Christmas French Toast
(8 servings) Printable Version
- 5 large eggs
- 2 cups eggnog
- 8 - 10 slices bread (I like a thick sliced plain-jane white bread)
- butter - for frying
How To Make Christmas French Toast (The Easy Way)
In a large, fairly-shallow bowl, beat the eggs. Add the eggnog and beat until well combined and frothy.
Dip each slice of bread in the egg mixture and coat both sides.
Melt about 1 Tablespoon of butter per batch of French toast in a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Fry bread until golden brown on the bottom - 2 or 3 minutes. Flip and fry other side to golden brown - about 2 minutes.
Keep slices warm in the oven (275 degrees) on a cookie sheet until ready to serve all at once. Top each serving with softened butter and warm maple syrup.
Cooking Notes From Recipe Submitter:
I don't add anything else this recipe, but if you really love an extra kick of spice, add on! I like to let my bread really soak up the mixture for 3-4 minutes before pan frying.
It's like eating dessert for breakfast, which is always fabulous! I sprinkle this french toast with powdered sugar. My mom likes it with cinnamon-sugar. My dad likes it with Steens Cane syrup (we're from south Louisiana).
This holiday-flavored French toast uses only four ingredients. The eggnog is already full of spices, so little else is needed.
