Grandma's Granola
(9 servings) Printable Version
- 4 cups old fashioned oatmeal
- 1 cup whole grain flake cereal such as Total
- 1/2 cup nuts - chopped or sliced
- 1/2 cup dried fruit
- 2 ounces vegetable oil (about 4 Tablespoons)
- 2 ounces honey (about 4 Tablespoons)
Cover a cookie sheet with foil and spray the foil with cooking spray. Spread the granola on the foil and bake at 350 degrees 10 to 15 minutes or until it just barely starts to brown. Allow to cool. Break up the larger chunks. Add fruit.
Store for up to a week.
You may use chopped walnuts, hazelnuts or pecans. Sliced or slivered almonds work well. Chopped macadamias are marvelous with dried pineapple. Dried apricots work well, as do raisins, craisins, dried pineapple, dried cherries, prunes and banana chips. I store mine in an empty oatmeal box.
