A new survey on the breakfast habits of Americans was released on February 11, 2008. The survey, conducted by Zogby International in association with Jimmy Dean Foods, analyzed the breakfast-eating habits of over 6,000 Americans.

While the study was limited to only 25 major U.S. cities, the results clearly indicate that America has quite a way to go in realizing, and taking advantage of, the benefits of breakfast.

A press release about the survey also reported the following findings:

Surprisingly, Las Vegas placed the most importance on eating breakfast as a family. 37% of Vegas respondents said they make breakfast a habitual family affair. On the other end of the spectrum, only 7% of Atlanta respondents reported eating breakfast regularly with family.
Of all the cities included, San Francisco reported the highest incidence of eating breakfast in the workplace (33%). The combined nationwide percentage for breakfast in the office was 11%.
Nearly 50% of all respondents said they enjoy eating breakfast foods during evening meals.
