Halve the coconut, add vanilla. Whole un-crushed Rice Krispies can be used in place of crushed corn flakes. I like to add a few dashes of black pepper. All that said, best French toast I've ever had.

Can dessicated coconut be used? Is it the same? Has anyone tried it?

Halve the coconut item and utilize unsalted butter. Let the folks know to preheat the oiled skillet to medium high or 300 degrees. It is all about the labor of love....!!!!!

Fantastic! I made this with a little nutmeg too and no coconut. Goes GREAT with some fresh strawberries and powdered sugar and a tiny bit of syrup!

My mother made this recipe for me some time ago. I believe she got it from a corn flakes box. I had been wondering exactly how she made it... now I know. It is really very good, and as I recall, I didn't even need syrup. I also think it would be good with a little powdered sugar sprinkled on top, or maybe some stewed raspberry/blackberries on top.
