Optimum - Blueberry Cinnamon

I enjoyed this cereal. My only complaint: For a blueberry cinnamon cereal, I wish it had more blueberries and cinnamon.
Blueberry & Cinnamon Optimum is a mishmash of "Flax Plus Flakes, "Protein Twigs," "Kamut Wheat Puffs", freeze dried wild blueberries and cinnamon. The cereal pieces and flavors work well together.
A couple months ago, I reviewed a new All-Bran cereal called Strawberry Medley. In that cereal, cereal pieces of differing shapes and textures seemed to fight each other for my mouth's attention. In this Optimum cereal, there's a harmony among the pieces when milk is added. It's as if the flakes want to hang out with the twigs... everybody is happy and peaceful.
While I yearned for more of the blueberry and cinnamon flavors promised on the box, I found myself enjoying the unnamed, overriding flavor of hearty toasted wheat. This is a complicated looking cereal, but the overall flavor is simple and homespun. If "healthy goodness" were a flavor, you could use that description here.
One word of advice: When you first try this cereal, gently shake up the box. The dried blueberries tend to settle to the bottom of the box. (Sorry... that was actually 23 words of advice.)
Nutritionally speaking, this cereal is a decent morning option. Each 1 cup serving has 7 grams of dietary fiber, 0 grams saturated fat, 0 grams trans fat and a reasonable 9 grams of sugar. The smattering of vitamins and mineral is very sparse, so be sure to take your multi-vitamin or include some juice with breakfast.
If you like cereals of a more adult nature (by which I mean healthy not erotic), give this one a shot.

I agree with OdeToOats. This cereal looks "too healthy" but it's actually quite good. It's a bit sweet - and the crunchy fiber sticks are really toasted and tasty! I thought that the cinnamon flavor was kind of the odd man out - as you really didn't taste it - and it didn't seem to work. But overall I really enjoyed this cereal and will get it again.

Both of the optimum cereals that I have tried are great! The fiber content is very high, almost like having a big bowl of oatmeal. It's a shame that so many people pass them up because of their price and health food look.
