Caramel Nut Crunch

Totally awesome.

Many new cereals have some kind of "cluster" - a little condensed clump of stuff meant to add pizzazz to every second or third bite of flakes or nuggets. As far as clusters go, this cereal has the very best - setting the bar for all other clusters and clumps.

These clusters are comprised of caramel-flavored rice and walnut and pecan pieces. They're slightly softer than their corn-flake brothers, but they still provide a light crunch... and tons of flavor. I wish they sold the clusters separately. I'd like to try them on ice cream.

When I received this cereal, I had no milk in the house, so I treated the first third of the box as a dry snack. I had pretzels and cheese cubes in the house the same week. I found myself choosing this cereal as my snack du jour.

The flakes are tasty and crunchy as expected from the Kellogg's Crunch line. The cereal imparts a light caramel flavor to milk. There's also a reasonable amount of almond slivers. The picture on the box is fairly close to what you get.

The only complaint I can imagine this cereal getting is that it may have too much caramel flavor. By the end of a big bowl, it may seem a touch too sweet. But that is a total reach for criticism.

This cereal is super great. I officially name it Mr Breakfast's Official Cereal Choice for the Summer of 2006.

A 1 cup serving with no-fat milk has 250 calories, 3.5 grams of fat (1.5 grams saturated; 0 grams Trans fat), 1 gram of dietary fiber and 10% to 25% of many the vitamins that usually appear on the side panel.
