Bunuelos (Christmas)

(5 servings) Printable Version

1 cup flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 each egg
3 tbsp. milk
powdered sugar - optional

Combine flour, baking powder, sugar and salt in a medium bowl.

Combine egg and milk and beat until frothy.

Mix dry and liquid ingredients together. Cover and allow to rest for 10 minutes.

Drop by spoonfuls into hot fat to deep fry until golden.

Drain well and serve immediately, rolled in powdered sugar.

Bunuelos are round, crispy fritters drizzled with fruit or honey syrup and served especially on Christmas morning.
