Froot Loops
From: Kellogg's
Introduced in 1963

  • "Follow my nose! It always knows! The flavor of fruit! Wherever it grows!" is the best known promotional battle cry for Froot Loops cereal. The rhyme was originally delivered by Mel Blanc, the first man to provide the voice for Toucan Sam. Blanc was also the voice behind Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Foghorn Leghorn and Barney Rubble.

When introduced, Froot Loops consisted of red (cherry), orange (orange), and yellow (lemon) loops pieces. Since that time, several other colors and flavors have been included, such as purple (grape).

Company Description: Kellogg's was originally founded as the Battle Creek Toasted Corn Flake Company in 1906. The company's founder Will Keith Kellogg is credited with inventing corn flakes along with his brother John Harvey Kellogg. The company was renamed the Kellogg Company in 1922... Toucan Sam

Toucan Sam's beak is a tribute to the cereal he represents. Although he was originally illustrated with a pink, red and orange-stripped beak, it's been the tradition since the early 70's that the mascot's beak now have stripes that represent the original colors of the Froot Loop cereal pieces: red, yellow and orange.

Toucan Sam has been the Froot Loops mascot since the cereal was introduced in 1963. With the exception of the change in beak and the removal of a Carmen Miranda fruit hat, the character remains very close to the way he looked in his earliest days.

My absolute favorite until, alas, they lowered the sugar content. Not the same, but still that wonderful 'froot' smell when you first open the package.

When I was young, I would always have a bowl of Froot Loops, dry, with a glass of milk while I watched the Flintstones on Friday nights. (Loved them with milk, too... but for breakfast.) In recent years, I have tried doing the same, but without the little 'sugar crystals', it doesn't quite taste as good to me. Sadly, most cereals that I loved have gone down the path of 'healthiness', that has destroyed the flavor that I loved. I get making foods 'healthier', but the unfortunate result of that is that these foods no longer taste as good as they used to.

Delicious! Frooty, but not artificial tasting! Not that unhealthy for tasting so good, don't go soggy fast, 10/11 very good!

Toucan Sam was voiced in the 1980s and 90s by Maurice LaMarche, also known for voicing the Brain (Pinky and the Brain) and Kiff Kroker on Futurama.
