Rice Krispies - Gluten Free
Introduced in 2011
This cereal was described on the front of the box as a "toasted brown rice cereal" that was "gluten-free" and made with "whole grain brown rice."
Upon its introduction, the back of the box offered a recipe to "make your Kellogg's Rice Krispies Treats Gluten Free." It called the cereal "simply delicious," saying that "whole grain brown rice makes this cereal naturally gluten free, and the classic taste and crispy goodness is exactly what you expect from the original crisped rice cereal... It's a tasty, gluten-free way to enjoy some of life's simple pleasures."
Company Description: Kellogg's was originally founded as the Battle Creek Toasted Corn Flake Company in 1906. The company's founder Will Keith Kellogg is credited with inventing corn flakes along with his brother John Harvey Kellogg. The company was renamed the Kellogg Company in 1922... It doesn't taste exactly like the original Rice Crispies but very close. It has a different texture. What is mainly missing is the malt flavoring that contains gluten. I bought some of these at a local grocery store when I spotted them because it had been awhile since I had them (I had to go gluten free 1 1/2 years ago so I can't eat most cereals). They are pretty good, and I highly recommend them as a good healthy cereal for a quick bite to eat in the morning. Of course I always prefer and recommend a protein-rich breakfast (eggs and meat) over cereal, but this is great in a pinch.
