Frosted Mini-Wheats
Introduced in 1978
This cereal has been described on boxes as "sugar frosted whole wheat biscuits" and "lightly sweetened shredded whole wheat."
In the mid-80's, a popular television ad described the cereal like this: "Kellogg's Mini Wheats... wholesome shredded wheat for the adult in you... great taste for the kid in you. So they're nutritious and delicious."
Around 2002, the cereal was advertised as having a sort of dual personality. An animated piece of cereal starred in a series of commercials. One side of the cereal piece was serious with an intellectual British accent. The other side (the frosted side), named Sweets, was goofy, fun-loving and not particularly well-spoken. While the dual personality would often get the character(s) in trouble, the ads made it clear that it was the two sides of Frosted Mini-Wheats that made the cereal "good all around."
In 2011, Kellogg's interactive website for Frosted Mini-Wheats had a smiling piece of the cereal saying, "Morning hunger can distract your kid and keep them from focusing on their school work, but the the 8 layers of whole grain fiber in each bite of Kellogg's Frosted Min-Wheats cereals helps to keep 'em full and focused."
Company Description: Kellogg's was originally founded as the Battle Creek Toasted Corn Flake Company in 1906. The company's founder Will Keith Kellogg is credited with inventing corn flakes along with his brother John Harvey Kellogg. The company was renamed the Kellogg Company in 1922... Terrible texture, terrible taste! I tried this over 30 years ago and can still vividly remember how horrible it was.
