Special K
Introduced in 1955
The first high protein cereal fortified with seven vitamins and iron.
A 1971 TV ad described it like this:
"This is America's favorite high protein cereal... Kellogg's Special K. I also has 8 essential vitamins. Special K gives your family 33% the officially established minimum daily adult requirements of iron, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, vitamins C, A & D plus vitamins B6 & B12. Special K cereal is 99% fat free and it's delicious. Look for the big red K. The whole family will like it."

I ate it until the change in 1982 (I was 20 then). Living only a few miles from Canada. I would occasionally pick up a box of the Canadian product which was the same as the pre-1982 U.S. version. Now that's gone too. Too many food companies screw up a good thing.

The small flake was the best. Very delicious. I think it was changed to the larger flakes in 1982.

I had an argument with some younger people at work. They don't believe that SK ever had the small nugget/flakes.

2015 will be the 60th birthday for Special K. Please bring back the small flake for the longtime fans, even if it is just for a limited time. Love the K!

Still a big favorite of mine. Even with all the sugar-sweetened cereal I ate during my youth, I've always looked forward to the great taste & crunch of Special K.
