Sugar Jets
Introduced in 1953
Sugar Jets was originally called Sugar Smiles Cereal.
Sugar Smiles was a combination of sugar-coated Kix cereal and plain Wheaties flakes. Within a year, the Wheaties flakes were removed from the cereal and the name was changed to Sugar Jets.
In 1964, the cereal was described on the box as "Space-Age Shapes In A Sugar-Toasted Oat Cereal."
Company Description: Officially created in 1928, General Mills traces it's history back to the 1860's and the ownership of two flour mills. Since then, the company has become the world's 6th largest food company - marketing to over 100 countries... Read on and see all cereals from General Mills

Best cereal ever. I lived on it. I am so sorry they don't make it anymore. Kids would love it!

My favorite cereal of all times. Why don't they bring them back? Sugar Jets were the most satisfying for a snack a night. Loved, loved them.

Rose, who wrote earlier about the Sugar Jets song, 'I'm hungry I'm hungry for good things to eat...' nailed the jingle. I, too have been searching for years!

I have had the nickname 'Jet' for 60+ years because I loved this cereal. I was somewhat precocious and could recite my name, address and phone# at age 2 (born 1954 - did it in 1956). I was on my 2nd bowl and my mom told me if I didn't quit eating them, I'd turn into one. Trotted out to perform about 1 hour later. Asked my name, I said 'Jet'. 60 years later, I'm still 'Jet'. For those that loved them, Cap'n Crunch Peanut Butter is as close as you can get. I'm half-way thru my 2nd bowl as I type. Try 'em, really good.

Does anyone remember the early commercials for Sugar Jets? The kid eats the cereal and flies off into the wild blue yonder. I made my mom hold the kitchen door open while I ate my cereal. My earliest lesson in critical thinking skills.

I've been looking for the Sugar Jets song for years, especially the last line: 'I'm hungry, I'm hungry for good things to eat; for Sugar Jets, Sugar Jets, toasted treat. I eat Sugar Jets, the triple treat, ???????.' Anybody remember this?
