Wheat Chex
Introduced in 1937
Previously known as Shredded Ralston Cereal. This cereal, along with the entire Chex cereal line, is now produced by General Mills.
Recent incarnations of the cereal box have called Wheat Chex a "simply nutritious... oven toasted wheat cereal (with) no artificial flavors or colors."
Company Description: Ralston was originally part of The Ralston-Purina Company which was formed in 1902. The name Ralston stems from a minor social movement in the late 19th Century called Ralstonism - created by Webster Edgerly. Followers of the movement (about 800,000) followed the motto "Regime, Activity, Light, Strength, Temperation, Oxygen and Nature" - the first letters of which spelled out "Ralston"... How are people suppose to make Chex Mix? Wal Mart is ridiculous.

Wheat Chex is my favorite cereal. I eat two boxes a week. Walmart informed me this week that they have discontinued this cereal. I am totally dismayed. I hope this is only temporary.

Wheat Chex has long been my favorite dry cereal. Does anyone remember it was not always made as it is now. It used to be denser and looked somewhat similar to shredded wheat then sometime around 1960 it was revamped into the form it is now.

You cannot buy in the Virgin Islands so when I go home I bring back boxes for friends. I have it for desert some nights with a tiny bit of honey and cream.

Have you noticed that you don't see Wheat Chex in stores as often as you used to these last couple of years?

To talk about WHEAT CHEX Single Serving boxes, those were a part of a Single Serving pack called CHEX MATES (of course that was not to be confused with the classic 1960-62 TV drama, CHECKMATE).

Liked this a lot as a kid! It NEVER got soggy in milk. My dad loved to sprinkle cinnamon sugar on his Wheat Chex. When it was cold, sometimes dad would heat some milk and pour it on them.

This is my favorite of the Chex cereals, especially when it's made into a mix with other chex.
