Introduced in 1978

This cereal was described boxes as "the light, crisp, high-fiber cereal" and "high fiber with good taste." TV commercials for the cereal used the taglines "Tastes so good it must be a sin" and "High fiber AND good taste."

A 1978 magazine ad for the cereal read, "To prove how great Bran Chex tastes, we'll pay for your first bowl." And then, it offered a coupon for 7 cents. It concluded, "Bran tastes better when it's called Bran Chex."

[ A priest and a seminary student are having breakfast in what appears to be a monastery. ]

Student: Father, I have a sin to confess.

Priest (annoyed): At breakfast...

Student: I love my bran cereal.

Priest: That's not a sin, my son.

Student: It must be. Nobody likes bran cereal.

Priest: This is no ordinary bran cereal. It's Bran Chex. They've added corn to make it even crispier than before.

Student: Bran Chex taste so good. It can't be good for you.

Priest: There are some mysteries in life, my son, that are simply not explainable.

[ A light shines down from heaven. ]

Priest: Just enjoy.

Announcer: New crispy, light Bran Chex brand cereal.

Student: Tastes so good it must be a sin.

I miss Bran Chex so much. Why did they ever take it away? The Multi Chex is just not the same.

They should bring back the Bran Chex. At least at Christmas or holiday time. Makes the best party mix and is so good for you.

Great cereal. Insane that it does not exist anymore. The big grocery chains such as Wegman's should make knock-offs like they do for rice/corn/wheat Chex, as it would probably outsell the other types.
