Introduced in 1994
The formal complete name of this cereal was Wheaties Quarterback Crunch. It was described on the box as a "sweetened football shaped whole wheat & corn puffs cereal." It was "available for a limited time only." The pieces really did look like footballs... complete with lines etched into each puff to resemble stitching.
The side of the box we got our hands on had the following description:
"Here's an all-star breakfast cereal that will have your kids sprinting for the breakfast bowl. Quarterback Crunch puts the perfect spin on breakfast. It's Wheaties wheat goodness and corn in a delicious puffed cereal made just for kids... For a winning breakfast that will have your kids cheering for more, star Wheaties Quarterback Crunch in their early morning line-up. Act fast, before a time out is called on this limited offer."
The back of the box had a pretty cool cut-out game where you would finger-kick the football shaped cereal pieces through fold-up uprights.
The first 7 ingredients listed on the nutrition panel were whole wheat, sugar, cornmeal, brown sugar, corn syrup, partially hydrogenated soybean oil and salt.
