Ralston Wheat
Introduced in 1898
An ad from 1933 told it like this, "Mothers! Children really enjoy this hot cereal! It's twice as good for them, too; it's 'double-rich' in the factor which creates appetite and promotes health as naturally as clear western air... it's more satisfying, more sustaining, a richer source of quick energy too... it's completely cooked, ready-to-serve in just five minutes."
Company Description: Ralston was originally part of The Ralston-Purina Company which was formed in 1902. The name Ralston stems from a minor social movement in the late 19th Century called Ralstonism - created by Webster Edgerly. Followers of the movement (about 800,000) followed the motto "Regime, Activity, Light, Strength, Temperation, Oxygen and Nature" - the first letters of which spelled out "Ralston"... I remember Ralston cereal well growing up in the 40's and 50's. Something jarred my memory and have been looking in grocery stores to no avail, at least where I live. Saw it online at ridiculous prices. Located store chain near Philadelphia but will not ship here. Boy I sure would like a local store to sell it.

Grew up with this as my regular winter breakfast cereal. I was a huge Space Patrol fan and that was my introduction. Longing for it, I tried Wheetena but found it too gritty. Bring it back please.

Had my first bowl of Ralston today after 75 years. It tastes just the way I remember it as a kid - only better!

Cooks just as it's supposed to... not like other cereals. I love the taste and glad it's such a healthy cereal.
