If you are looking for this restaurant, they have moved to Ansonia and are now called "Cafe Taste".

Much bigger location, serve dinner on some night and STILL eggcellent food!!!

I am a new waitress at Cafe' Taste. After reading the reviews I had to send in my own comment regarding this fabulous restaurant. First of all, the menu is out of sight. The food is unbelievably delicious, the owners are nothing but fantastic. I try to thank them everyday I work for hiring me. I have never worked at a place where I truly felt like family from the first day that I walked in for take-out and was basically hired on the spot. The help is wonderful. They take such pride in the customers and the atmosphere. Everything has to be perfect, and it's in such a way that you take pride in working hard. I leave everyday with a smile. Thank you for hiring me.....

11/2/06. Hello! This note is from the owner of Breakfast on the Green. We have officially moved out of our Derby storefront and will open our fabulous new location within the next week. Please call 203-732-3447 to find out when you can come in for breakfast/lunch.

Check out info for our new location in "ANSONIA" under Cafe Taste!

Our new location will offer our original menu and within a month or so, we will be open evenings for dinner, desserts, full bar, cappucino/espresso, ...etc.

This commentary is in reply to anonymous breakfast lover 9/23. I am the owner and chef of Breakfast On The Green in Derby, and would first like to apogogise for my rude outburst. I agree that it was very unprofessional. That being said I have issue with a few statements that were made by this disgruntled customer. I suspect that I know the isolated incident being discussed. To begin with I will be the first to correct a breakfast that is not up to our high quality standard. Any member of my kitchen staff will tell you that I am a perfectionist. I am constantly critiquing what comes out of my kitchen. However, there are quite frequently customers that do not that do not carefully read the menu and make mistakes with their order. They then expect you to drop everyone else's order and re-do theirs. This is very frustrating on a busy day and, for those who don't understand the dynamics of a restaurant kitchen, it can delay the next 20 people being served. I often do up to 300 breakfasts on a busy Sunday (many of them special order) in a 50 seat restaurant. The majority of the people we serve have nothing but glowing reviews of our breakfasts. There is always going to be one or two people that feel they are not getting good service, maybe because the wait staff is overwhelmed at that point or maybe just because the patron is in an impatient mood. Most of our customers agree that we have one of the friendliest most accommodating and professional staffs around.
At it's best this is a difficult business. We have worked very hard to establish our reputation and have the loyal following to prove it. There will always be one person out of the overwhelming majority, for whatever reason, who doesn't have a pleasant experience. I am glad to say that in our restaurant they are few and far between. Judge for yourself, and again. I apologize for the outburst. I guess I just let my frustration get the best of me.

Review #4360'er, how can you review a place if YOU'VE NEVER BEEN THERE?!! And, if you have comments (praising or critical) why not post them under your ID instead of hiding. I do not work for nor am I related to anyone at BOTG, just a customer for almost 8 months now!

I went to BREAKFAST ON THE GREEN (Which also now serves great lunches!) because of what I initially read, ABOUT THE FOOD! And it wasn't a wasted trip.

Not everyone likes the atmosphere of a place. But what you took as a snipe I took as an explanation. Yes, perhaps Jena(?) should have let the comments go but she felt she needed to explain the situation from her perspective. There are 2 side to every story! All I can say is that every time I've been there (at least 8 now) I have been treated with respect and nothing like what was earlier described occurred.

You stated, "This is no way to treat the people who pay your bills and if this is the caliber of your establishment you have saved my friends and me time and travel." All I can say is, you're missing out! (And more pumpkin pancakes for me!!!)

As a matter of fact, I'm heading over to BOTG now!!!
