Architecturally, this is a great space. I really enjoy the light and sense of space here, but you didn't really come for the space -- you came for breakfast, right?

The food can be quite good at this vegetarian-oriented restaurant, but the kitchen does not have it together time-wise. If you're not in a hurry and do not have young children in tow, and have more than your fair share of patience --then I would up the rating to 4/5 eggs.

There are long lines on the weekends as there is nothing else in the Milwaukee area that caters to the vegetarian bruncher. So get to Beans & Barley early if you're going on the weekend!

The Tofu Scrambler is fantastic...and I don't even like tofu. Really good carrot/orange juice mix too.

This place is the best, and I KNOW breakfast! Not your ordinary breakfast place, Beans offers a diverse and outstanding selection of pancakes from Granola to seasonal favorites like Pumpkin. Everything is homemade using natural ingredients. Get there early on weekends (before 9:15)there is almost always a line. It's attached to a fabulous little grocery store that has cool cards, gifts and a fabulous Deli and Bakery. Don't miss it if you're in Milwaukee!

Fresh. Delicious. Primarily vegetarian. Check out the daily pancake and omelet specials. Be prepared for a wait on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Take advantage of the adjoining Farmer's Market during the warmer months.
