I saw Chris Rock there last time I ate at Dukes. Great omelets too.

I was taken to Dukes by my sister-in-law on a recent visit to LA, for breakfast. WOW! Loved the whole experience. The service was fantastic, the food was 'to die for' and I had Matthew Perry sitting at the table next to me! What more does a girl need?!!! I'll be visiting LA again in the next few months and this place is on my 'must go to' list.

Cheap thrills and real, for bloody sakes, in the heart of the Strip no less. Hard to find the real thing in Los Angeles, much less on Sunset Boulevard where everything is traditionally flashy and fake. Real waitresses, real coffee in real mugs, with regular refills and they're actually honestly friendly. Sort of like the coffee shop version of Barney's Beanery. The whole vibe is like a backstreet miracle but on the Boulevard. A bit of a dive with family style seating at group tables and certainly no chain but that's the way I like it. Only problem is they close at 8:30pm weeknights so you can't go there after a music or comedy event on the strip.

This just took over #1 in my breakfast rankings from the Sunset Grill on Queen East in Toronto. I seriously thought the Sunset Grill was unassailable, but Duke's cruised right past with horsepower to spare. Amazing. I had the 'Revenge' on a weekday morning, and it was totally fricken' sensational. I can't wait to get back to LA to eat there again. Very friendly & relaxed, night light from the windows too, doesn't have that cooler-than-thou thing going on at all, or any West Hollywood wackiness. Darn tootin'!

This might be my favorite place for breakfast, both weekend and weekday. The food is always good and the service is always awesome. I'm an omelette-guy and their omelettes are always large and tasty. I've also enjoyed their homemade oatmeal -- with milk, butter and brown sugar.
I've seen more celebrities at Duke's than any other restaurant I go to. The only drawback I can think of is that the tables are a little too close together, but that's always been cool because I've never had to sit near a jerk.
I recommend Duke's, especially to people visiting L.A. for the first time.
