I have heard so many great things about The Cornerstone. I have never gone before. So this morning my husband and I decided to try it. Big mistake! The service was very quick. But the food was just nasty. I ordered The California Omelet. My eggs were burned. They were a rubbery brown. The turkey meat inside it was dark gray and tasted like the chicken in Campbells condensed chicken soup. The potatoes that came with it were also burned and had absolutely no flavor! My husband ordered The Biscuits and Gravy. They also were just horrible. The gravy actually jiggled like it was jello! And it had no flavor. I will never go back to this place.

The Cornerstone is my favorite breakfast place in Sacramento! I love their potatoes and bacon, and their eggs are usually quite good as well. Don't think I've ever had pancakes there. (And, although this is a breakfast review site, I'd also like to say that I've had lunch there ... once ... probably in 2002 or so, and I won't make that mistake again.)

Seems the the Cornerstone has changed ownership since I last visited their midtown location. No more wonderfully prepared home fries and the bacon tasted strange and/or day old. Sadly, after years of enjoying this locally owned restaurant, I will not be back.

I have given this place several (about 6) chances to impress me and it has yet to do so. I do like the location in a residential part downtown Sac, but the service is just OK, the food is very basic and is presented in a very plain fashion (we eat with our eyes!!). The Cornerstone will provide an average breakfast, but don't expect anything special.

I visited the Cornerstone in Elk Grove and it was excellent. The service was fast and efficient. The ambiance was okay, but it was very clean. I ordered a spinach omelet with potatoes. My omelet was filled with spinach, and the potatoes were not greasy which brought out the flavor of the potato. I would definitely go back!

in Elk Grove on EG Blvd. as well. These folks know how to get breakfast going, and quickly (with coffee, as is absolutely necessary)

Great potato platter for breakfast. Anything on the breakfast menu is pretty good. Lunch is good also, but I'd go for breakfast. The coffee is alright, and the service is speedy.
