Biggest ripoff? I'm not sure that person was eating at the same restaurant. My two eggs, sausage, hashbrowns, and toast cost about $4.50. My partners reuben was hot and delicious, and $6.00. Overall, the menu was extremely reasonable (and no, I'm not some city girl used to over-paying for diner food). The friendly, hard-working, and super-efficient waitresses refilled our coffees automatically. The tables were packed, but we found two seats at the counter immediately. I highly recommend stopping here for a quick meal.

Not what it's cracked up to be. The wait staff has a very bad attitude,(understaffed and overworked) you have to ask for refills (where as they should be watching and automatically coming by) and several times our food was served by a chef from the kitchen who was NOT WEARING a hat/hairnet or gloves!. Frequently filled to the hour waiting time on weekends for tourists stopping to check out the old-time structure. Take a pass on this place if the parking lot is more than half full.

Plan on at least ten dollars per person for an average breakfast. (less tip)

We stopped into the Chelsea Royal as a 1/2 way point from Connecticut to Canada. There were 9 in our party. The service was great. Food came out in a hurry and we were off and ready to go with our belly's full in a very reasonable time. The food was hot and good. Great stop. We are looking forward to our next trip to Canada and we'll be sure to stop in again!!

Just experienced a memorable late breakfast at the Chelsea Royal. They apologized for being out of the hash browns but offered their french fried sweet potatoes instead which, besides being beautiful to look at, were worth a trip in themselves. Pick up a souvenir postcard on the way out; the painting on it is lovely.

We often drive from Westchester County in NY, just to eat breakfast at the Chelsea Royal Diner.They have fabulous breakfast specials, like stuffed french toast and berry pancakes w/ real VT maple syrup.

We always stop at The Chelsea Royale Diner when we drive to Vermont from Connecticut. It is great that you can get breakfast all day long and I often have it for lunch. Their omelets are so tasty and they have great corned beef hash.
