Don't know what anybody else is talking about in these reviews, but being from Florida, it is one of my "Have to eat there" places the two or three times I am in Maine every year. The portions and quality of the food in my opinion have and remain superb, I can't wait for my next visit. I have never had anything but friendly service. Having to wait to get in, what does that tell you about any place. ITS GOOD>!!

Cold home-fries and service is rude at best. I wouldn't wait in line for this.

Moody's has been an atleast once a month stop for me my whole life. So I will start with saying that it does in fact have a great breakfast... if you can get inside that is. But, with that said, I can also attest to those of you complaining about the quality of lunch and dinner. It has been on a downward decline for 6 or 7 years now... maybe longer. Everything tastes as if it has been scooped out of a can or plastic tub... and all the meat tastes like it has been flash freezed. Sorry Moody's, I love you... but I think you need to go back to the "old ways".

Moody's Diner is one of those places that really makes you mad. It could be great...it should be great...and it just isn't! I would have given it a rotten rating if it wasn't for the redeeming qualities of their indian pudding. But the rest of the meal was just more plastic McFood.
After waiting 30 minutes to get a table at this "Maine legend" we expected a lot. We were sadly disappointed all the way around. The Sysco food tub sitting on the corner was a good indication of what was in store. The haddock nuggets I had were hard and saturated with stale tasting oil. My husband's meatball sub had meatballs right out of the freezer and anemic looking sauce out of a can. The coleslaw was right out of the tub o' food container and the fries were limp and greasy. The only part of the meal worth noting was the Indian Pudding.
Service was slow and very impersonal - no small talk at all and the sour-faced waitress acted as if serving us was an annoyance at best. Yes I realize they were busy but plopping the menu/food/check down in front of the customer and walking off without a word is not acceptable.
Just because a place has been in business a long time does not mean that it is good. I would suggest driving right on past Moody's and trying one of the other diners along the highway.

Everyone braggs about Moody's Diner. I heard it was the place to go while on Rt. 1 in Maine. Being a Mainer, I took the advice. Maybe Moody's used to be a great diner, but it is not anymore. The price is average I guess, but the food could not be worse. An order a french fries will get you ten maybe. The cheeseburger might as well have been from a fast food joint. I take that back, a McDonald's 99 cent cheeseburger is more filling and larger for half the price. This is not a good Diner! Great place to stop for small portions of less than good food and oh yeah, there's usually a line to wait in.

I love moodys. I live in maine so I should know, I go all the time. I live about 25 mins from there and It still always feels like a special treat to me. My favorite, and what i always recomend, is the chocolate cake with white frosting, next time ya there you have GOT to try it!

No trip to the coast of Maine is complete without a stop at Moody's Diner in Waldoboro. This restaurant has been in business for decades and has changed very little during that time. They are known for their good food and large portions. Breakfast is served all day and we have even had it for lunch. I love their hash browns! This family-run restaurant knows how to please their customers.
