very good place. saw the diner on a "best thing i ever ate" show and me and my fiance stopped in. she got the item they featured in the sahow, monkey french toast, and it was UNBELIEVABLE!! you must go and get that! and only like 9 bucks. i got a foccaccia (sp?) egg and turkey sausage sandwich with smoked mozzarella. amazing! great place! whole bill with an iced tea and a side was 20 bucks. cheap! NOTE: its 10th and fitzwater, not 10th and catherine

The overall experience of food and atmosphere at the Morning Glory for breakfast was a very good one. The selection was not from your typical Denny's style menu. I got the oatmeal (steel cut) with fruit and a side of bacon, my wife got the monkey french toast (french toast with mango and bananas), my son the shrimp wrap, and his girlfriend the strawberry pancakes. We were 4 for 4. Everybody thought their food was great. As to the coffee, the tin cups are insulated, kept the coffee warm, and the refills kept coming. The Morning Glory's atmosphere was friendly and relaxing. And when the bill came, it was certainly reasonable. I'm from Chicago, but on my next visit I will definitely be a return diner at the Morning Glory.

The food is good - some say great - but nothing out of this world. It's a great place to bring children though since the din will surely be louder than any noisy child. The coffee is served in tin cups (not charming, just kind of cheapo). The ketchup is served in old wine bottles that look like they've been around for quite some time. Who knows how elderly the ketchup inside is. There is some sort of fruit sauce in a covered dish on the table. I'm sure 99% of people wouldn't sneeze into it or pick their nose and then touch the handle of the tiny serving spoon.... I will recommend getting any of the fritattas though. Their famous biscuits are pretty good though a little burned on top. The coffee tastes fine at first but has a weird aftertaste of dirt. My yogurt had a delicate, but clearly noticeable, onion taste. Great for dip, but not what I had in mind for dunking my fruit pieces into. Oatmeal is the nice, steel cut type, but rather soupy-slimy. Be prepared to wait half an hour or so in their so-called garden patio (more like an abandoned courtyard with ugly mismatched plastic lawn furniture) on the weekends. This place could use some cleaning up. It's filled with "real people" though, which is a nice change from some other popular breakfast places throughout the city that seem to be yuppie heaven.

Sam's Morning Glory Diner is the way to start your day. There are so many homemade great tasting items on the menu that you can't go wrong. The best bets include the challah french toast with bananas drizzled with honey and served with maple syrup and a large puff of whipped cream on the side. Equally as good are the made from scratch pancakes with silky, dense, sweet-tasting batter. The frittata's are very popular here, but they would not be our first choice. Make sure to add some great sides including the sage sausage patties (don't forget the homemade ketchup!), good but slightly dry biscuits, and perfectly cooked bacon. The servers are hip and enthusiastic, and eager to make sure you're happy. Make sure to get there early because they do have a sign-in sheet at the door for crowded times, likely when the outdoor patio is open.
