In the past I would have given this even a 5 egg rating...My mom and I work at the nearby hospital and would meet there often to eat BK after a long night work. We went enough times to the point that one or two of the waitresses got to know us. "The usual?" meant #1 breakfast special. They even had it down to how each of us liked our eggs, even kept one of my meals warm putting a plate on top of it if I was running late meeting up with my mom. We'd eat in the back non-smoking section, often laughing with each other....SUddenly, like being in the Twilite Zone, something changed?.....The non-smoking section was no longer lit, as if to give an indirect message that either we can't sit there because it was closed or that they no longer wanted our service?...! What gives!?...The wait staff even no longer gave their usual smiles towards us, or even acknowledged we were there.! The last straw was when I was running late again and my mom said she would meet up there with me, ordering ahead of time. ...Later, after our meal a few things started to rear its ugly head. 1) The increased price of food- what food tax?...Huh? That was a first (and now a last for us, for we won't venture there anymore). 2) My mother was yelled at for a mere mistake thinking that the back room was open for sitting...Speechless at this changed treatment, my mom simply waited not mentioning this so as not to ruin our BK together. Last, after our meal, we paid our $8 bill with $20, only to be short changed. We did leave a separate tip by the table, however :-P My mom usually would've put up a fight but was so flabbergasted she and I just walked out numbly out the door, flummoxed as to why the sudden change of treatment?... It was as though a betrayal of a friendship. Did we do something wrong?...Consider this a smear campaign or what have you, but I had indigestion of a different kind after eating there. It really left a bad impression on me. My mom is surprised that I still think about it, but I'm sensitive that way. I still give 1 egg for the past courtesy they showed to us...But what I really want is a side order of an apology or some kind of explanation....I guess I'll never know.

Their breakfast menu is quite good, and they have a large smoking section for us sinners (No fear, you clear-lungers, they have seperate rooms for smoking and non-smokers.) They have the best grits that I've eaten in my life, even better than down south. BUT... they have the most miserable waitstaff in the known universe. They must get penalized if they show their teeth in a smile. And ALL they do is complain to each other, right in front of customers, about what a jerk their boss is. (Using colorful language that will wake you up, if the coffee doesn't.) The "boss" is also not above yelling at the top of his lungs at the waitresses. Not exactly conducive to a relaxing meal.

I could go every day and I did while my wife was in the Jefferson Hospital delivering twins. For a month, I went for breakfast lunch and dinner. The menu was awesome and everything was really good. The owner's and the staff make it a pleasant and friendly experience. The soups are especially delicious and the lunch special are priced right and I feel like a King when I get served up a special at such a great price.
Every Friday me and the guys go to lunch at the MidTown. We think about other places but it would not be Friday without this diner. There nothing better than a good diner and this one is tops!!!!
