We weren't sure where we were headed on last Sunday morning, but thought we would drive until something stood out to us. Boy, did we hit it big with finding Beaterville. I knew it by reputation only, but had never experienced for myself. What a great find! We split a fabulous omelete, stuffed with veggies so tender I could have eaten a bowl just of them. Staff was friendly, and coffee cup was always topped off. I only took off one egg. Only because while I liked the home potatoes, they didn't hit the same high marks as that omelete. Oh we'll be back soon. Next time for the bar, cocktails and boardgames.

My favorite is the matador omelette. Generous portions comfortable atmosphere. Looks and feels like my grandma's dining room. A great place to hangout with friends. A NoPo classic. The bar is fun too. Play board games while listening to local musicians.

Eggs cooked wrong, hash browns under-cooked, bacon burnt to a crisp, served by a grinning hippy who somehow seemed to be a substitute for whoever was scheduled to work that day--he was the only visible staff member in the place and seemed unfamiliar with his surroundings. VERY disappointing after all the hype.

It is a place for me to cut loose and be nutty. Kinda Rustic (heavy on the RUST) Can't drink the coffee. (personal reasons) Bill lets me be the assistant to the Office assistant helping him with the BEAST in the office. The music there is good. The food is good too. The bar is open now from 4:00pm till close. (whenever that is) Its also a good place to hear live music. Blessings.

Not being able to go to Beaterville is one of the
things I miss the most about moving away from Portland.
Fifteen years gone - many states and countries, but I will always love the Beaterville Cafe.
There is something so "Portland" about Beaterville, in a very good way.

I have to admit, it could be a result of Beaterville being built up so much for me before eating there, that DISSAPOINTMENT was inevitable, but I have never been so LET DOWN by a breakfast joint. I have to believe that the only thing keeping this place in business is the Bullsh*t hype. I have been there three times (I try not to judge a place for BAD FOOD or service the first time), each time I try something new: scrambles, biscuits and gravy, and just plain bacon and eggs with hash browns, ALL of them have disappointed. In fact, the food that was BLAND and FLAVORLESS was the best of the breakfasts I’ve eaten at Beaterville. It’s hot and STUFFY inside because patrons are packed tighter than Elton John’s bowels. What I’m trying to say is that you can find better food at a good price anywhere else in Portland (like the DOG FOOD aisle in PetCo), Beaterville is a SLAP IN THE FACE to Portland’s beautiful restaurant culture.

The best pancakes in town if you love then thin and crispy around the edges. Lots of choices on the menu and the coffee is always fantastic.

This place is unique with a very cool vibe. Surrounded by former beatermobiles in what was once somebody's house. The food is very good and the atmosphere is very energetic. Although my breakfast buddy and I were almost delegated to a small backroom and would have been shut away from the other patrons; I protested and we were seated in the main dining areea.

After a five year absense from oregon....I once again had the opportunity for breakfast at beaterville's. It was stupendous...the freezer jam, the potatoes, the decor, and the people.
portland is such a great place and beaterville's epitomizes the warmth and character.
It was great to see that it was still there, and I can't wait to visit again. portlanders, you don't know what you have...unless you move away.

a very comfortable place for vegans, vegetarians and meat eaters. Dogs are welcome outside and a water bowl is provided. The spudabaker is great as is the homemade strawberry freezer jam.

If you haven't been it is worth a visit. Hubcaps and old car parts decorate the interior. Pictures of old wrecks to view while you wait for your meal. Vegetarian plates available if you're so inclined. Can become very busy on weekends, best to go there as early as you can. I had the Desoto on my last visit good enough to return.
