A friend and I came in at 5pm on a weekday as the servers were lax and maintenance was being done inside.
My friend asked the server about the 'buckwheat pancakes', to which she didn't reply but just shook her head.
We both ordered the apple pancakes. They made a mistake from a simple alteration between both of us, but they were more than willing to serve the correction to right the wrong.
The apple pancakes were served with a more-sugary-than-flavorful apple compote, and with whipped cream nearly covering the whole plate. The pancakes themselves were good (not bland, not out-of-this-world) and about medium 6" size.
Despite the mixed-up order, the service is what I would expect from a Greasy Spoon, a tad below average.

I had been wanting to try this place for a long time. I'm tired of the chains(IHOP, Crackerbarrel, Dennys). My sister and her entire family came in from Charleston SC. We decided to take the "trek" to Uncle Bills. What a treat. Their food was the best and the portions beat all the others hands down. My sister and her family were so impressed, we not only ate their on Friday morning....we went back on Saturday!!! Thanks Uncle Bills for making this St. Louisan proud to be part of your experience!

My wife and business partners have been eating at Uncle Bills on Manchester Blvd. in West County for over 15 years. The food has slowly gone down hill as the prices went up. Saturday evening around 5PM (12/19) my wife and I went in for a late dinner. We should have been tipped off as there was only two other parties seated. We waited for our server, Levi, who must have been brand new as he got our order wrong twice, and when it was finally delivered it was still way wrong. The food itself was a shock. The eggs were over done, the toast was actually burnt and without butter, the sausage and bacon were cold, hard and basically little hocky pucks. The hash browns was slopped over the edge of the plate and cold. My wife had ordered the biscuts and grav y but received two cold biscuts, two hocky pucks and a dollop of butter. We were very, very disappointed and are now looking for another family restaurant. We can only surmise that they changed management or are in real financial trouble. Either way I'm not sure I want to experience that again. In closing, the bill for sausage and eggs and biscuts and gravy with coffee was nearly $25.00. Insult to injury.

biscuits and gravy and coffee were excellent but my "veggie" omelet had only cheese, green pepper and onions. Not very "veggie". The place seems kinda dark and dirty for breakfast, could use some serious soap and elbow grease.

The first time I ate at Uncle Bill's was on a date with a man who would be my husband. Married now for 29 we have moved around the country, living in two states for a total of 10 years. Now we are back in MO. We eat at Uncle Bill's anytime we are in the city. Things we love about Uncle Bill's.
1. Attentive service, multiple coffee refills, always steaming hot.
2. Wait time for food served is reasonable. Served hot. Fresh. Omletes are fluffy. Pancakes are big and tasty. Hashbrowns have some crunch.
3. Neighborhood feel and prices are affordable.

The service is not very good and the prices are a little high for breakfast food. The portions are huge. The best part about this place is the pancakes! They are to die for. They are so good they make you forget about the bad service, for the most part.

The pancakes stick to the roof of your mouth and the homestyle syrup is watery.
