Just loved the Pork Store, where we stopped before a stroll down Haight St. for shopping. They have a nice menu with reasonable prices. The portions are nice-sized and the coffee is really good. Service was wonderful, even though the place was packed - both at the tables and counter. I had green benedict, which was eggs, avocado and asparagus with hollaindaise, so not just the average breakfast offerings. The place had a somewhat grimy feel, but that didn't detract from a really nice experience.

This place is great. We were there on a weekday and experienced about a 20 minute wait (never eat in a restaurant in SFO that can seat a party of 4 immediately - the locals know the good places and are willing to wait) for a table tho we could have had counter seating seating sooner had we wanted to do that. Large portions; good hearty food; attentive service. We went to the "original" on Haight (1/2 block from the Haight - Ashbury intersection) but learned they also have a store at 3122 16th in the Mission District. We'll definitely do breakfast here again.

As an American ex-pat living in Denmark I really appreciate a great breakfast when I am "home" and this place really fills the bill.
The efficiency with which the two cooks, two waitresses and dishwasher operate should be packaged and sent abroad as an example of American know how. And they're all doing it (if you sit at the counter) right in front of you. It's the cheapest ballet show in town.
At a minimum the whole joint and staff should be shipped lock-stock and barrel to the American History Museum in DC. P L U S the food is great!

You can actually feel your arteries hardening as you eat, IT'S THAT GREAT!!!!!!
This is breakfast the way breakfast SHOULD be. High fat, meaning OH SO flavorful, and big portions. You'll have to take a few moments after eating to let it all settle before you can move again.

I'm currently living and working in China and every weekend I wake up and wish I could go to the Pork Store. Not a lot of biscuits over here. Anyway... for the best service (and the most awesome atmosphere) sit at the counter and chat with the owner. Watch the cook work his magic with the avocados. If you get there early on a Sat. or Sun. morning, you can catch the out-all-night crowd (or be a part of it!). One of the least pretentious places I found in San Fran.

Food is OK (if you like greasy) but damn, this place could use a better ventilation system - going to the bathroom upstairs is like walking into a pork rendering facility.

Get there early or risk a long line for breakfast like you wish Mom made. Simple staples - eggs, omelettes, biscuits and gravy, along with a dazzling array of breakfast meats done to perfection every time make getting out of bed worthwhile at this Bay Area gem. Simple food and lots of it - from blueberry pancakes to vegetarian scrambles make packing in tight worth every bit of oversharing with your neighbors. Don't miss the hash browns, perhaps the best anywhere, but leae your diet at home - there's more clarified butter here than a small toddler needs to fill their wading pool.
