Jinky's does well because there isn't a similar breafast spot in the SE valley. It's not that it is bad, it certainly isn't, it's just not all you'd think it might be with the long waits. The restaurant, particularly in the summer, is often steamy and uncomfortable but the food itself is good and they do come up with interesting combinations and healthy substitutes.

Jinky's is a local landmark, and a consistently top quality eatery. Aside from some of the best omelettes & pancakes in the valley, the waitresses are generally cute as hell and are (unusually for LA) in possession of manners commensurate with their looks. (FYI: the 'Sherman Oaks' omelette with an apple-sausage side accompanied by a double cap is worth the trip every time.) Also, for you daytime TV fans, during certain times of the week it's a veritable Soap Opera Digest shoot. This humble patron's opinion? Jinky's: best hangover breakfast in town. Peace out, y'all...

The restaurant has pretty good pancakes and eggs, the sausages are very nice and tasty. However the staffs lame attitude really make you wonder why people wait outside to get bad service.

After hearing so much about this place, we were totally underwhelmed by our meal.
The breakfast potatoes were very mushy and had little flavor. The hollandaise sauce had a weird texture, but the ham was good. The atmosphere is nothing to write home about.

Portions are large. But this isn't a case of quantity over quality. Many of their menu items are very good. Their sausages (Jody Maroni) are cooked well -- crispy skin, chewy meat. The Italian Egg Sandwich with zucchini, basil and cheese on sourdough toast is particularly satisfying. I find their pancakes to be hit and miss, though. I used to be absolutely addicted to their pumpkin pancakes; but, the last time I ordered them they were a bit too doughy and heavy, without that comforting cinnamon-pumpkin flavor. I've never had their chili but they ARE known for it.

You can't miss Jinky's on Ventura. There is always a line outside on the weekends. Try anything with chili from Chili My Sole. Everything else is just average.
